it and everybody knows it, including obama's campaign energies, romney seemed like he understood the issues better than obama did. it was striking to me when romney said, for example, well, yes, president obama, i agree with training, but there are 47 different programs and 8 agencies and that cost as a lot of money and we need to consolidate, and by the way, your support of green energy is costing $90 billion. he did a masterful job of showing he knows the issues. >> let's see what viewers thought, next. a spending cut plan. he has an energy plan. he's got to make it clear. he's got to explain to people the connection between his plans and the economic recovery that we have not yet had. that's a tall order for romney. and he's going to have to fight hard for it while the, of course is attacking him. >> you said earlier i was watching kudlow and company, you said the first impression is important. he's got to swing right away. you think he'll do that? >> that's my hunch. i've seen this before. aggressive. he's got to put this sort of line in the sand. here's what i believe. and here's what he believes. and there's a big choice in this election. he is the guy who wants redistribution. i'm the guy who wants growth. he's the guy who wants government centered economy. i'm the guy for free enterprise. he's got to say that. but it's doubly hard because he's got to put meat on the bones of his tax and spend policy. to this day, people are not quite sure what mitt romney's policies are. the president doesn't have policies. romney does, but we don't understand them. >> a debate is never a good

feel mitt romney dominated by bringing more energy to it. how did you see it? >> well, i think the president has always had a certain dignified reserve and i think that's one of the admirable qualities about the president. as i was watching the debate i think what mitt romney really needed tonight was a big game changer. he needed to address the observation that he hasn't had any specifics for all of these great promises. you know, $5 trillion in cuts but it won't add to the deficit, trust me i'll tell you later. eat cake, lose weight. so i don't think he got the game changer he needed tonight. i do think the president was particularly strong, though, in getting governor romney to admit that he does want to turn medicare into a voucher program and i also believe the president was good in drawing the contrast between the two economic approaches, the two economic plans. governor romney believes that tax cuts for the wealthy grow jobs. most of us understand that those sorts of tax cuts are what grow deficits. they don't grow jobs. and president obama and his opportunity economy, i
